Person - Mary-Anne Gifford
Mary-Anne Gifford was assistant to director Kevin Jackson on Our Country’s Good 1995. In 1996 she was elected Artistic Director and directed Stephen Sewell’s The father we loved on a beach by the sea and The Cherry Orchard. In 1997 she directed The Season at Sarsaparilla. In 2007 she returned to direct Dorothy Hewett's The Man from Mukinupin.
Mary-Anne trained as a singer and had a first class Honours degree in Theatre Studies from the University of NSW. She graduated from the NIDA Directors Course in 1992, and was a lecturer at UNSW and a dramaturg and director at the National Playwrights Conference. In 1998 she was appointed to the Railway Street Theatre Company formed by the merging of the New England Theatre Company and the Q Theatre Company. Productions played at Penrith and toured on a regular basis to towns in regional NSW before Railway Street was re-branded the Q Theatre Company in 2005.
