Mary-Anne trained as a singer and had a first class Honours degree in Theatre Studies from the University of NSW.  She graduated from the NIDA Directors Course in 1992, and was a lecturer at UNSW and a dramaturg and director at the National Playwright’s Conference. In 1998 she was appointed to the Railway Street Theatre Company formed by the merging of the New England Theatre Company and the Q Theatre Company. Productions played at Penrith and toured on a regular basis to towns in regional NSW before Railway Street was re-branded the Q Theatre Company in 2005.

MARY-ANNE GIFFORD

In 1996 she was elected Artistic Director and directed Stephen Sewell’s The father we loved on a beach by the sea and The Cherry Orchard. In 1997 she directed The Season at Sarsaparilla.
