MARGARET CHRISTENSEN (1921-2009)
Peggy Christensen played Alice, a waitress who’s had a hard time, in J B Priestley's They Came to a City directed by Jerry Wells and designed by Cedric Flower which opened in August 1945.
Adelaide-born, Margaret Christensen moved to Brisbane where her brother was an announcer. After gaining radio experience she arrived in Sydney in 1943. She acted in a huge number of radio plays and serials, and on stage at the Mercury and Independent theatres. She became a big radio star, working with NT members John Gray in 1958 in The Fiends, and with Reg Lye on film in Smiley in 1956.
She lived in London 1959-66. She married violinist Dan Scully; their children pianist Wendy and actor Sean Scully.
