CONLY JOHN PAGET DEASE (1906 - 1979)

Left-wing radio personality John Dease taught voice at NTL in 1944 and was an influence on NT member and playwright Joan Clarke who worked with him at 2GB. In 1933 he left a teaching job at Sydney’s Scots College to concentrate on a theatrical career and worked at the Independent and Mercury theatres. In 1948 after denying he was a communist, he resigned as Actors and Announcers Equity vice president. In later life he was radio’s “Quiz Kids” quizmaster.
