DERYCK STANLEY BARNES (1920 - 2000)

Born in Melbourne on 14 December 1920, Deryck played the hero in the 1946 season of NT’s God Bless the Guv’nor.

He also acted in Catherine Duncan’s Sons of the Morning at Killara on 4 June 1945, its cast including Jane Holland (who married Leo McKern), and at the outdoor theatre run by Betty Roland at Castlecrag in Metropolitan Players’ Our Town in October 1945, its cast including Leo McKern and Jane Holland. Barnes was also in Independent Theatre productions including a tour of Rusty Bugles, and at the Neutral Bay Music Hall 1965-67.

His work in film and television: People Next Door 1973, Stone 1974, Silent Number 1974, The Cars That Ate Paris 1974, Burke and Wills 1985 (also in the cast Rod Williams, Arthur Dignam and Les Foxcroft who all acted at NT).

Deryck Barnes died on 3 March 2000.
