DAMIEN RYAN

Damien Ryan made his NT debut in 1997 in the title role of Hamlet, directed by David Ritchie. He was also involved in a 1997 Workshop The Mute Factory and assisted director David Ritchie on Mother Courage and Her Children 1998. He married NT member Bernadette Millar, a Theatre Nepean graduate who played Ophelia in Hamlet 1996, and acted in A Lie of the Mind 1996 and A Midsummer Night’s Dream 1999.

Damien Ryan grew up in Mount Druitt, with no connection to the theatre and trained as a journalist. He joined Bell Shakespeare in 2001 and founded Sport for Jove in 2009.
