Betty had a Masters Degree in Music with First Class Honours. At NT she played keyboard in Just Talk Apart from the Songs and Waiting for the Parade in 1984, was musical director for Fuente Ovejuna 1991, assistant musical director on The Hired Man 1991 and the 1992 Christmas show Everything Old is New Again in which she also sang. Betty was sound designer and composer on Summer of the 17th Doll 1998, and sound designer on Relative Comfort and Poor Superman 1999. She was musical director and performer in the three Funny Business cabarets for Mardi Gras 1998, 1999 and 2000, and served on the NT committee as Treasurer in 1999.

Diagnosed with leukaemia in 2004, Betty Leone died on 22 August 2005.
